The Joyce Aviation (Fiji) Group CEO Tim Joyce has long recognized the limited local medical facilities and medical evacuation options for both Fijians and our visitors from overseas, as the main impediments to development in Fiji. With 333 islands and such a high emphasis on Tourism together with the interest in higher risk adventure sporting activities, first class medical care and specialist medical evacuation facilities are an essential service and requirement of our Tourism industry.
In an attempt to address this situation, Joyce Aviation has equipped our AS355 twin- engine helicopter with an articulated medical stretcher and essential medical equipment to enable fast overwater patient transfers and landings to a number of hospitals in Fiji. We also have two R-44 Helicopters with 3 passenger seats, available to transfer medical staff & equipment or seated patients at a more affordable rate.
We have teamed up with local medical specialists and a dedicated international jet retrieval service from Australia with trained personnel and an aircraft on 24-hour standby to provide specialist medical advice, diagnosis and if required, a retrieval service anywhere within the Pacific Basin. We have staff on standby 24 hours per day in the event of an emergency to assist in arranging medical assistance and or evacuation either by helicopter or fixed wing as and when required around and within Fiji as well as overseas.
LIFEFLIGHT FIJI
About 6 years ago, Tim Joyce (CEO of Joyce Aviation) teamed up with Anthony Blake (founder of the Fiji Aeromedical & Rescue Services Trust, FARST) to develop a dedicated Medevac and SAR service in Fiji with the vision of providing access to adequate health care services for all Fijians and for our Overseas Visitors.
Together, they have established “LifeFlight Fiji” with the support of LifeFlight Australia for technical and training support. LifeFlight Fiji has been registered as part of the FARST charitable trust and is currently seeking a major sponsor and financial partner so the vision of the trust can be fulfilled.
The vision of LifeFlight Fiji is to provide SAR capability and subsidized aeromedical evacuations to citizens (and visitors) of Fiji either within Fiji or to international destinations, as required. The Joyce Aviation Group is the preferred Aviation Partner of LifeFlight Fiji as we have both helicopter and airplanes suitably equipped for AME and SAR missions to anywhere in the Fiji Islands, including Rotuma.
